Last week I showed you some downloads of books for teaching younger children; this week I’m featuring teaching aids for older children. These are based on the outdated lesson books that have been replaced by the new “Come, Follow Me” curriculum. Make no mistake, these books are stuffed with great ideas that can help your children or students learn and be entertained. There’s a set for each of the four standard works. There are Classroom Activity Books and Activity Books for the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants/Church History, Old Testament, and New Testament.
2019 will be an historic year – everything that wasn’t changed a few years ago is going to change now, including the Primary curriculum. That will surely be interesting, especially to Primary teachers like me. Everyone aged 3 to 11 will be taught from the new “Come, Follow Me – for Primary” materials, based on the New Testament (not yet available on lds.org). I’m guessing that there will be a 4-year rotation.
2019 Primary Theme Book: Families Are Forever
We like to teach children that they should plan on going on a mission, but what does that really mean? I have two FREE book downloads that can be used in Primary or at home to help children understand what a missionary teaches and what they do. The first one is based on the old system with six lessons, with activities for children about each of the basic concepts in those lessons.
Years ago, the Young Men and Young Women programs both had lesson books for Sunday meetings, and we made books that had handouts/activities for every lesson in the three-year series of manuals. This week I’m featuring the old Young Men Classroom books. Even though they are out of date, they are still full of ideas!
